Background

About Stephen Malesevich

I have a strong interest in sustainability and have built most of my academic and professional background around this. I have also begun building a background in human resources and held positions in this field in the federal government. From the sustainability side, I have held positions that address sustainability in various manners. These jobs ranged from conducting research to support environmental policies, evaluating sustainability strategies of private and public organizations, and tutoring undergraduate environmental studies students. These jobs have been in both the public and private sectors, which I believe provides me with a unique set of skills and allows me to view tasks and challenges from different perspectives. I have a passion for learning, and have used this to my advantage to complete projects successfully. Examples include quickly learning about greenhouse gas reporting legislation in B.C. to report emissions from well servicing activities, researching energy technologies to provide support for project proposal evaluations, and co-leading a report on advancing geothermal energy in Canada. This passion has helped me adapt to the HR field and gain an understanding of job classification and organizational design in the federal government. In addition, I take time outside of work to volunteer with various organizations and participate in clubs to build upon my existing knowledge base and skill set.
