Background
About Stephen Mayor
I am a generalist ecologist with interests in biodiversity, biogeography, macroecology, conservation biology, community ecology, ecoinformatics, and ecological scaling. I aim broadly to contribute to answering fundamental ecological questions, often with relevant societal applications to issues like land use planning, conservation, and climate change. I have investigated individual organisms, populations, communities, and continental ecosystems. I currently study- Drivers of diversification in Amazonia, starting with the diverse plant genus Miconia and the riverine barrier hypothesis, and scaling up workflows to diverse taxa- The phenology of migratory birds in relation to climate change by uniting citizen science data with satellite data at the North America scale- Potted plant root foraging behaviour in a risk-reward framework- Biodiversity and community ecology in response to human disturbance in Boreal Canada
