About Stephen McGrail

I am a mid-career professional seeking to contribute to the energy transition. I have about a decade of experience in the research sector - including various university-based research positions / roles (most recently as a Research Fellow in sociology at Monash University)- and about a decade of experience in professional services fields including management consulting and applied social research. I currently work in research management. My current work at Future Fuels Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) has brought my core focus back to energy transitions and decarbonisation. As the Program Coordinator of Research Program 2 and some of Research Program 1, my role is centred on overseeing the CRC’s social scientific research, supporting project delivery (across both Research Programs 1 and 2), and enabling research dissemination and utilisation. I also coordinate the CRC’s Education & Training Program. I bring to my work a wide-ranging and eclectic intellectual background having completed- PhD awarded by UTS (Institute for Sustainable Futures)- Bachelor of Business (Marketing), Monash University - MA degree (focused on the sociology, history and philosophy of science), University of Melbourne - MSc degree (strategic foresight focus), Swinburne University
