About Stephen McKenna

My role at Quigg Golden is to assist clients with understanding contracts, dispute resolution and procurement issues they face, with a focus on protecting their commercial position. As an Institution of Civil Engineers accredited Law and Contract Management approved Project Manager, I lecture in the ICE NEC4 Law and Contract Management course, and on the Engineer's Ireland Public Works Contract (PWC) and its Adjudication course. I have an LLB (Hons) in Law, and extensive experience in construction adjudication disputes up to €30m in value, successfully running and enforcing a number of adjudications, including a £2.8m smash and grab adjudication, endorsed by the TCC High Court in 2022; and another case concerning a dormant company also enforced by the TCC in 2022. In terms of procurement, I have experience in drafting procurement suites for tender competitions on behalf of Contracting Authorities, I have sat on a number of marking panels for public procurement competitions, and I have also successfully challenged procurement competitions on behalf of aggrieved bidders, by way of drafting specialist reports on how competitions were drafted and ran, and moving to issuing writs. Utilising my 15+ years' experience in a Construction Management capacity on various sites in Ireland and abroad, I assist construction professionals with various construction contract / construction related disputes that rise, understanding the complex nature of building works, the tight time frames associated with construction programmes and various change management issues. In terms of Quigg Golden, our practice comprises engineers, quantity surveyors, lawyers and non-practicing barristers. Our holistic approach gives us the expertise to advise clients in construction, engineering and the law.
