About Stephen Ngoka

Growing up, I was taught to believe that in life you could only focus on one thing and one thing alone to be successful. For the longest time I lived my life that way, pursuing an education in Electrical Engineering, given that I was naturally gifted in Math and the Sciences. I graduated from McGill University, and I found myself unhappy, not because of what I chose to study but because I wasn't living my life to its full potential; I wasn't exploring all facades of my creativity. When my mum passed away in 2010, I found myself face-to-face with my demons and it made me realize that life was too short to spend it holding back. It is then that I decided to explore every part of me that makes me me. I explored my natural talents in music and in doing so I've seen myself reach heights I never imagined possible, now with music distributed by Warner and eOne, a global fan base of over 100K strong and growing on social media, recognition across mainstream media including radio, TV and magazines, a music licensing company founded, etc. At the same time, I pursued my interests in geek culture, which led me to establishing my own media focused company, partnerships with Machinima, hosting panels at Comiccon on human ethics in gaming culture, collaborations with Ubisoft, etc. In addition, I never turned my back on my technical aptitudes, having continued my pursuits as a professional in that domain. To summarize, I chose to live my life without limits and that is how I'll continue to live it, with a passion for creativity, with determination to be better and fortitude to persevere. And more importantly, I challenge you to do the same, to be true to your convictions and not just believe but dare to walk where you dream. It won't be easy, this I know, but it will be rewarding.
