About Stephen Nicholson

I have thirty + years of professional urban and community forestry experience following an eight year career as an electrical engineering technician. Combining these diverse experiences, when applicable, is a unique benefit to our natural resources and my clients. I strive to provide quality community forest management, techniques and expertise to the benefit of communities and their natural resources throughout the Upper Midwest. Started as a diverse field services company, Treebiz LLC is also an Eos Positioning Systems® authorized reseller in the Upper Midwest. The same products sold are also used in the field - I use what I sell. I am a strong supporter of continuing education, my own professional development and that of my colleagues through professional associations. I currently serve as a board member of the Minnesota Shade Tree Advisory Committee (MnSTAC), our State's urban forestry council. I represent MnSTAC on the Minneapolis Tree Advisory Commission along with a group of volunteers dedicated to sustaining and improving the urban forest in Minneapolis. Specialties: Certified Forester. ISA Certified Arborist. Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ), Urban Forestry Job Analysis Panel (SAF). Communications Committee Chair for the Minnesota Chapter of the Society of American Foresters. GPS/GIS mapping, ArcPad training, community forest management, tree inventories including MnDOT Design/Build experience, tree preservation techniques, hazard tree assessments, tree ordinance development/review and valuations.
