About Stephen Robeck

I've been building as an evolving website to feature photographic work. It's a great place to see a variety of photographs from of interesting places and read helpful articles about photography in general. Affordable, decorative, archival-quality prints are available for purchase along with photo restoration and fine-art printing services. I had my first camera and darkroom around age 10, and got more serious about photography during and after college. Early commercial clients included Tobey Publishing, Eastern Mountain Sports and Time-Life Films. My career focus soon changed to film and video production as stage manager, editor and director for IBM, Sports Illustrated, Jeep and others. In the late 1980’s I co-founded creative agency in New York, Equity Marketing, to implement entertainment-based promotions for clients like Burger King, Subway, Wendy’s, Taco Bell, Pepsi and many more. We worked closely with Disney, Fox, Warner Bros, Paramount, MGM, Saban, Sony and LucasFilm. The company moved to LA in 1994. Other than family snapshots, photography was dormant a number of years. With the move to California, my passion for wilderness backpacking was kindled along with a renewed focus on image making. My first large-scale panographs were made during a 1994 hike through Glacier NP. I retired from business (mostly) in and began learning digital darkroom technique in earnest. I learned hugely from great teachers like Will Crockett, Stephen Johnson, Mac Holbert and John Paul Caponigro, all of them accomplished artists and digital pioneers.
