Strategic leader with 15 years of post-secondary teaching experience and 16 years of experience leading organizations through start-up, turnaround, and aggressive growth campaigns. Teaching Excellence: Taught Business Strategy, Accounting, Corporate Finance, Food & Beverage Cost Controls, and Hotel Operations at Royal Roads University, Camosun College, and CPABC. Have collaborated successfully with fellow instructors in reviewing textbooks and discussing best practices. Was able to communicate the material effectively, adjusting teaching styles to work in both online and face-to-face settings. Received positive student feedback in all sections. Continuous Learning: Completed Western University's Doctor of Education program, building knowledge through courses focusing on change leadership, organizational development, and change theory. Dissertation-in-Practice focused on grassroots leadership, embedding the UN Sustainable Development Goals in business curriculum, collegiality, and utilizing change models. Completed the Simon Fraser University Master of Education program in 2017, focusing on curriculum development and instructional excellence. Maintained an A GPA, including an A+ on the final capstone project. The faculty sponsor’s feedback was that it was “an exemplary compact report on an action research initiative, presented in a flawless practitioner-scholar's tone.” Completed the Provincial Instructor Diploma Program in 2015, maintaining a 94% average in the program, which includes topics such as curriculum development, instructional strategies, evaluation of learning, and learning in an online environment. Leadership: Provided financial leadership to several businesses in the roles of Controller and Vice President, Finance. Able to successfully communicate the business's targets, objectives, and goals through all levels of the organization. These roles have occurred in settings as diverse as historical, mature companies to companies transitioning from pre-opening to becoming viable stand-alone businesses. This required significant training to shift the organizational focus to a more entrepreneurial mindset while maintaining customer service, employee engagement, and profitability standards.
