About Stephen Strom

I am currently a Java software architect and a process architect with a strong background in project management, architecture and system engineering, managing and architecting systems from 2 to 50 people. My major interests include containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, and other Cloud-Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) tools; Agile processes; lean development; cloud, especially Amazon Web Services; microservices; serverless architectures such as Amazon Lambda; Internet of Things (IoT); Web services and SOA, including REST; ontology and the ontological foundations of, for example, the National Information Exchange Model (NIEM); systems engineering and model-based systems engineering (MBSE); iOS and mobile development; HTML5 and single-page applications; dynamic languages, including Lisp (common, scheme, and clojure), python, ruby, javascript, and Mathematica; the C language family, including ANSI C, Objective C, and C++); Java through Java 17 and Swift. I also have a strong interest in reliability analysis and have done analysis using Monte Carlo, point cut, and generating functions. By original training I am a mathematical physicist. The first half of my career was primarily in aerospace with various NASA and DoD contractors doing spacecraft navigation - onboard and ground, Kalman and batch, with focuses primarily on Space Shuttle and briefly on Hubble, GPS, and other systems. The second half of my career has been primarily as a software and system engineer, primarily in CBP systems.
