About Stephen Taranto

Stephen Taranto is an interdisciplinary ecologist with fifteen years of project management and consulting experience in natural resource management in the US and Latin America. After completing his Master’s degree in the University of Florida’s School of Natural Resources and Environment with a concentration in Tropical Conservation and Environment he relocated to La Paz, Bolivia where he founded La Paz on Foot, an environmental consulting, communication and education company. Over the past ten years of working on resource management issues in the Central Andes, Stephen has gained broad experience in multi-stakeholder, participatory and field-based methods essential for fostering sustainable behaviors among urban and rural populations in South America. He has worked with a diverse array of stakeholder groups, from indigenous highland and lowland groups, campesino farmers, Bolivian and international students, local and international NGOs and the private sector. As an interdisciplinary ecologist, Stephen is committed to and skilled in bridging information, application and resource access gaps between sustainable resource management research and theory and its implementation.
