About Stephen Thorne

During my time at College I was heavily involved in Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship where I was President of the team and lead them to two national semi-final competitions, was nominated two years in a row as National Student Leader, Won the Spirit of SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise) award, 1st runner-up in the HSBC Financial Literacy Challenge, instigated the involvement of ACE and the Magna International project “Canadaville”, and gave a presentation to the Joint Oversight Board in Doha, Qatar on Youth Entrepreneurship. My experience enabled me to lead students to national success and create research papers that have made a difference in the lives of victims of hurricane Katrina. Since college I have held many contracts for executive roles and highly responsible positions in large corporations. I have overseen millions of dollars in merchandise, lead large numbers of staff, developed training materials, and created policies and procedures for restructuring businesses and new start-ups. With over 17 years of experience in the entertainment/security industry I have: trained 100's of security guards & doormen, I have negotiated the exchange and development of training materials between the Security Industry Authority of the United Kingdom and the Canadian Hospitality Security Alliance of Canada. I have worked with Government agencies for the discussions and development of the Security Guard Curriculum through the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services on Bill 159 in Ontario. I have provided elite security teams for some of the largest events in Atlantic Canada as well as personal protection for senior VIP officials. I am in the process of researching and launching Desert ICE a supplier of one of the worlds greatest wonders and most purest form of beverage ice. I am passionate about people and have chased my dream of working directly with Health & Safety. I spent 5 years as a volunteer Firefighter and trained in every skill I could. I went on to work as a Confined Space Rescue Tech, then joined Hazmat Emergency Response, continuing with Demolition. From there I made the move to Health & Safety Officer, this build the final step to take me where I am today, a highly trained blue-collar Health & Safety Manager, consultant, and Developer of EHSSY (Environmental Health & Safety System) as well as COR APP. I am continuing to grow as I have made a choice to study Mental Health and how I can support my Employees, Colleagues, Friends, and Family, and not to forget to support myself and my ongoing struggles and challenges.
