About Stephen Woods

As a school counselor at Wake County Public School System, I provide comprehensive counseling services to students and their families, including academic, social, emotional, and career guidance. I also collaborate with teachers, administrators, and community partners to support student success and well-being. I have a Master of Arts in School Counseling K-12 from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Teaching from American University. Before joining Wake County in August 2023, I worked as an elementary school counselor at Marana Unified School District for more than five years, where I implemented a school-wide counseling program, trained new counselors, and coordinated various student interventions and activities. Prior to that, I was a high school counselor at Arlington Public Schools for nine years, where I assisted students with college and career readiness, academic planning, and personal development. Throughout my career, I have developed and demonstrated skills in student services, counselor training, and adult education. My mission as a school counselor is to help students achieve their full potential and overcome any challenges they may face. I am passionate about creating a positive and supportive learning environment for all students, regardless of their background, abilities, or goals. I am always looking for new, exciting career opportunities to challenge myself and make a difference in the lives of students and their families.
