About Sterling Willie

I am a very joyful individual who loves events and activities such as playing sports, using technology, and networking with people. I love to set personal goals and strive others to push for their own as well. I was a student at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and Harry S. Truman College where I gained knowledge about maturing in my thinking, self-awareness, and in my major which was computer science. I am currently a Year Up student where my personal goal is to graduate from the program and become a computer engineer through the coursework they provide as well as the internship. Another goal I have is to work with Year Up and help close the opportunity divide by showing other young students about what the program is about and how can change one person’s thought about where they should start. Since I went through both University/Community College and Year Up, I can most definitely show personally why Year Up is a strong starting off option. I am a patient person who loves to listen so that I can understand a person in full detail. People say that I have a wonderful voice, I listen carefully, and give good advice. People have also told me that I am very funny, relatable, and reliable. I have a personal goal to work with any company that deals with IT to change the world of electronics and helping youth to look at different views in life. I want to help the youth strive for better positioning with the life they have and guide them to become what they want to be in life. To do this I first need to help myself to show a firm example on how I got to do my passion or my dream job working with IT. With the help from Year Up, any other persons, and my own determination to work hard for myself I will show the world my capabilities.
