About Steve Alves

Highly capable individual that has been functioning as technical manager and individual contributor of a Performance and Hardware Engineering department. I have operated in a hybrid role of recruiting, leading and mentoring a group of advanced engineers, along with providing significant individual contributions of my own. My responsibility also include driving the hardware roadmap of servers and storage. My recent responsibilities include new product development, benchmarking, analysis, sales collateral/tools and escalation support of performance and hardware related technology. Subject matter expert in all aspects of NAS, Block attach, client and server based operation and performance. Product offerings include Intel architecture, NUMA, multi-core, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NAS, SAN, Flash/SSD, SAS, PCI-e, RAID, networking,disaster recovery, remote/local replication, and compression/de-duplication. Significant work porting/merging solutions to various On-Premise and Cloud environments, while maintaining full functionality and performance goals. Worked directly with Kernel, driver and product software engineering to identify and optimize performance aspects.
