About Steve Appel

I am passionate about Interior Design, and I’m passionate about working with people. Here are five things about me and my past experience. Simply put: 1.) I’ve owned a successful and award winning home furnishings store in Baltimore for over 30 years. I started out with one store of 500 square feet and grew to multiple successful locations in the greater Baltimore’s area. I’ve managed many employees, negotiated leases and personally set up quite a few new locations in my career. 2.) I brought the Interior Design Service to our business 25 years ago. I did it because too many customers were afraid of using a Interior Designer. I showed them Interior Design does can be a service that is affordable, useful and worth the money. We proved that good quality Interior Design can pay for itself many times over by avoiding costly mistakes and unneeded stress to a home or company. 3) I’m a schlepper. Proud of it. When I interviewed for the position as Project Manager/Interior Designer for Hopkins Bayview my future boss in Architecture and Design hired me because she saw my history of getting the job done by personally delivering, setting up and fine tuning clients homes and commercial establishments. She saw from my portfolio not only did I have the eye for design but the work ethic to deliver results. 4.) I’m very proud of the work I did at Hopkins Bayview in the time that I was there. I was the first person with my level of expertise to address the needs of the hospital in many years. I helped make decisions and solved problems related to Interior Design and space allocation for the entire Bayview by getting things done effectively, efficiently and with the lowest cost I imaginable. 5.) My Interior Design experience has made me who I am. Whether I’m designing an update for a clients laundry room, new look for a garage or the interior of a new home, a new lobby for a Marriott hotel, or the interior of a bar in Hampden, I truly enjoy working with people and making them happy. Building trust, being passionate about my craft, and helping people fall in love again with their environment is everything to me.
