About Steve Babbitt

I have 31 years of experience in the commercial Lighting Industry as a manufacturer, I was the second hand to the owner when we began Delray Lighting in 1991, I have done nearly every job in the beginning including the creation of spec sheets and catalogs before we had any product, I even set up the first assembly line, designed and built all of our trade show booths including one that won best booth award at LightFair New York in the 600sf category. Did 99% of all our engineering drawings since Delray's inception until it was sold and was our only engineer for the first 25 years of business as well as create our bills of materials. Worked closely with vendors for sheet metal, metal stamping, deep draw, metal spinning, castings, injection molded parts, extrusions, metal forming, acrylic forming, acrylic extrusions, hand blown glass, painters and powder coaters, galvanizers and anodizers. Made all of our prototypes for testing and evaluation, worked with U.L. and ETL for certification, collaborated with Swedish designer and manufacturer Peo Strom on our early decorative designs, worked closely with our customers, Architects and lighting designers on standard and custom products. Assisted with installations and troubleshooting in the field. I designed many of our most successful products and implemented LEDs into the line when the technology was ready. I am known by my peers as an artist and a craftsman.
