About Steve Baldwin

As a commercially astute, results-driven and highly accomplished leader and Project Director, I have more than 30 years’ experience managing projects of all scope and size, including mega projects exceeding $1 billion, infrastructure development, predominantly within the mining industry, across Australia and internationally. I am accustomed to full accountability for major and mega projects. My extensive experience extends from project delivery, recovery and operations experience, including exploration, through to all approval phases, construction and production. I have a strong record of directing and delivering numerous major projects on schedule and within budget. I combine a highly professional and direct approach with an uncompromising focus on safety, efficiency and delivering positive commercial outcomes. My experience as a Project Director is complemented by my legal background and time practicing as a Solicitor and Principal of a law firm. I have an Honours degree in Law and comprehensive knowledge across many areas from a legal perspective including contracts, building and construction, and occupational health and safety law. Throughout my career I have been recognised for an entrepreneurial approach to project delivery and leadership, and am skilled at identifying opportunities, developing strategies, and leading implementation to deliver results. My success in delivering major projects is supported by my ability to communicate clearly, build strong, productive relationships, and positively influence the engagement and support of staff, contractors and stakeholders. As a leader I am inspiring, outcome-oriented, and collaborative, with an ability to build performance-based work cultures that align with company goals, objectives, and vision. Some of my recent career highlights include: Successfully managing an extensive project portfolio with in excess of 95 projects valued at over $2 billion. Successfully managing completed projects ranging from $10 million to $100 million on schedule, under budget and with an impeccable safety performance. Maintaining an unparalleled safety record, exceeding one million man hours Lost Time Injury (LTI) free in 2020, and more than 2 million hours LTI free throughout the total of my time working with Anglo American.
