Background
About Steve Bendheim
After working in sales of computer generated forms and computer supplies for over 25 years, and working strictly with fortune 500 companies, I felt like I needed to make a change in my life. I needed some new challenges in business, when I heard about an opportunity to learn a totally new career in a totally new field. I interviewed with ITT Corp. They were looking for people to train in the aerospace industry, and learn about Carbon Composites. It sounded like an amazing opportunity and sounded so interesting that I agreed to train in Walpole, Mass. for about 8 months. After training, I was hired full time by ITT to work in their new Bohemia, NY facility. I have been employed at the Bohemia facility since that day and have never looked back at my old career. I find composites to be an amazing industry and believe that the growth potential in this field is huge. The company name was changed in 2011 to Exelis, Inc. I love working with my hands and creating something from scratch. I have never once regretted making this life changing move. I look forward to a new and exciting challenge every day and look forward to many more years working in this exciting industry. In 2013 Exelis decided to close the Bohemia plant. I was offered a position in the Exelis Salt Lake City branch. After much debate, I accepted the offer and transferred to Utah. In March of 2016 I was promoted to Supervisor of Commercial Braiding manufacturing Variable Bleed Valves for GE Jet Engines. In 2015 EXELIS was purchased by Harris Corp and again in 2016 Harris was taken over by Albany Engineered Composites.
