Background

About Steve Carr

Positive, resilient relationships are the single key to success in any classroom. Every teacher and school leader knows it! My CPD program-a mind to teach- developed in secondary schools and informed by many years psychology training, offers teachers two gifts: 1/ Your pupils are wired create positive relationships with you as their teacher 2/ Your pupils innately want to learn; all the time in every subject all the time. The Art of Relationships The art of creating positive relationships can be learned and once mastered they make your ability to teach, the pupils ability to learn and.everyone's well being and mental health much much better! Psychology Every Teacher Should Know: Alfred Adler, a contemporary of Freud and one of the founders of psychotherapy, believed that psychology was not something that should to be shrouded in mystery, kept vague and out of reach like a dangerous medicine. He believed that psychotherapeutic psychology was something that should be taught to all teachers and care professionals. He saw it as a vital and transformative tool; a straightforward set of ideas that were sensible for everyone to understand. As far back as the 1920s, he argued that teachers should be armed with the important lessons of psychotherapeutic thinking. If you work with children then shouldn't you know something about how they learn? Would you take your car to a mechanic who didn't understand how a car engine works? Then why do we let teachers who have little or no understanding of how children form attachments and build relationships; essentially, about how they learn teach our children? Get in touch if you agree and let’s work together to put relationships at the heart of schools, of classrooms and of teacher education.
