About Steve Cox

I served in the Armed Forces and Merseyside Police for 33 years and spent 20 years gaining significant experience working in all areas of investigation. I worked in covert policing as a surveillance operative, team leader and latterly as a Senior Investigating Officer (SIO). As an intelligence manager I developed intelligence to support operations, managing informants and multiple undercover policing operations and operatives at a regional level. I worked in major crime managing major incident rooms via Holmes, and local investigation as the SIO relating to volume crime, domestic abuse, child abuse and Category C murders, providing on call cover for incidents of kidnap and extortion, making dynamic decisions. As Head of the Merseyside Police Anti-Corruption Unit I upheld professional standards by criminally investigating corruption. After retirement I took up a role as Head of Employee Services in Merseyside Police with responsibility for all internal and external recruitment, Diversity, Equality and Inclusion, force resourcing, and workforce planning and management. In September 2021 I took up a new role within the College of Policing as an advisor relating to integrity, ethics and professional standards, and managing the barred and advisory list for those dismissed from the police service.
