About Steve Flagler

I have worked in the Hospitality industry for my whole working life. Primarily because I love it. I love the people, I love the challenge, I love working at great locations and I love making a difference. Over the past 10+ years, I have had the great opportunity of working for Blue Mountain Resort (Intrawest) as we grew from a relatively small ski resort to a room, year-round destination for families, conference guests and thrill seekers to enjoy. It's been a ride and I'm proud to be part of it. Currently I work with my managers to deliver great experiences in our three conference facilities, two full service restaurants and seven quick service restaurants. We have enjoyed high (80%) Net Promoter Scores over the past five years within our conference business and were recognized as the conference facility in Canada in 2010 by Meeting Planners across the country. I led and/or participated in capital projects ranging from $100k restaurant renovations to building a $11M conference centre. My focus is to enable my managers to find success in their business. I support my managers by providing them with tools to understand their business and enable effective decisions. Whether it be guest satisfaction, employee engagement, financial reporting, forecasting, sales data and/or cost/expense analysis, I work with my managers to provide insight and improve our business. My teams have consistently achieved employee engagement scores of 75% plus. Employee engagement to me is not only about organizing 'team building'​ activities but more so about connecting with people working hard along side you. Saying 'thank you' regularly goes a long way. I have led menu engineering for conference, full service and quick service restaurants to maximize profit and efficiency. I have led a team that implemented a perpetual inventory system that allows us complete insight; better understanding ideal, waste and shrink costs into our kitchen operations.
