About Steve Hickson

With over 24 years of experience in the non-profit industry, I am passionate and dedicated to helping my organization and my colleagues achieve their goals. I have extensive experience running large-scale special events, golf tournaments, sponsorship solicitation, and developing and implementing training programs for volunteers and staff. Top notch customer service and relationship building has always been a priority. From to 2013, I played a large role in the development, training, and implementation of one of Canada's largest cancer fundraisers, the Canadian Cancer Society Relay For Life, in southwestern Ontario and across the province. From 2014 to 2018, I was responsible for multiple Parkinson Society Southwestern Ontario WALK-IT for Parkinson's events as well as A Hair Affair for Parkinson's and Signatures - A Taste Test of London's Best. I completed a successful contract at Childcan in late 2019 after running their Polar Bear Dips, fundraising walks, and 3rd party events. Database report analysis and corporate sponsorship are specialties, as well as relationship building, volunteer coordination and testing website functionality and providing input for improvement. I have excellent interpersonal skills as well as oral and written communication skills. In my spare time, I go on adventures with my wonderful wife as well as play dodgeball (locally and in tournaments in Toronto, the GTA, and Detroit), listen to records, and occasionally DJ parties and weddings.
