About Steve Horng

I'm Steve Horng. I have almost 4 -year laboratory experiences and 4 year bio-industry experience. Recently I am looking for a job which can let me unleash my potential and expand my ability. Especially in Data Science area. During the undergraduate period in NTU, as a student of the department of plant pathology and microbiology, I was trained to be aware of every detail in aseptic processing that made my rigorous attitude and more interest in the microbial experiment.In the period of my Master degree, I devoted to researching the mutant baculovirus which is capable of expressing more protein level compare to commercialized one, was believed owning the potential to apply in a certain purpose. During my time as a research assistant, I have the opportunity to join the lab of Dr. Pan-Chyr Young, who is diligent to develop a new drug to cure lung cancer. I have learned how best to culture various kinds of cell, including Jurkat cells, cancer cell lines. Moreover, I also expand my expertise technique include aptamer SELEX and evaluation of drug effect on the cancer cell.During 2021~2023, I worked in Protech Pharmaservices Corporation (PPC) which is one of most famous clinical research company in Asia. In PPC, I worked as associate researcher in big molecular lab. Our tasks include validating the effective and safety of the clinical drug. We also joined the EUA procedure of MVC COVID-19 Vaccine. In this period, I learned how to followed GLP and GXP regulation, and I also learned the procedure of collecting the data and then extracting meaningful data.In 2023 April, I went to University of California, Irvine (UCI) to study data science ACP program. In this period, I learned various knowledge of data science. Include programming language python and SQL; the knowledge of ETL procedure, basic machine learning, big data analysis and data visualization. We also worked with different countries students to accomplish team project. Therefore, the communication and teamwork ability are emphasized. From the past experience, I have established good team working skills, which make me able to cooperate with others easily. Meanwhile, I own the experiences and expertise in diverse fields including plant pathology, baculovirus expression system, drug development of cancer cell, clinical research and Data Science. Most importantly, I have the experience of cross-countries cooperation and communication. I feel that my experiences and expertise will be useful for your team.
