About Steve Hyde

I'm currently the Director of Think Evolve Solutions Ltd, offering consultancy and interim leadership services in technical programme leadership, technology development, engineering capability improvement and verification & validation. I previously worked for Reaction Engines Ltd as Chief Engineer High Speed Flight UK, delivering technology verification programmes for space access, high speed flight and sustainable aviation. I am a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the IMechE. Prior to this I was Head of the Validation and Verification Function for Rolls-Royce Civil Aerospace in Derby, a population of around 300 Engineers, and I previously headed up the Civil Technology Demonstrator Development Team for Rolls-Royce plc. Using Systems Engineering we establish requirements, define verification strategies and execute aero engine and rig tests to demonstrate compliance and advance the state of the art. I also have extensive programme management experience in delivering complex engineering design and make programmes in a high pressure environment. I’m familiar with Primavera P6, MS Project and SAP, leading teams using these industry standard tools to deliver programmes. I spent 3 years overseas in Toulouse, France, in both Technical and Managerial roles, and therefore have good cultural awareness and wider knowledge of the aerospace industry. I have also developed a love for all things French! To keep fit and provide a challenge outside work I’m a trail runner, and love to travel especially if it includes Scuba diving.
