About Steve Jones

Steve is a chartered health, safety, environment (HSE) professional and transformational leader, with more than 25 year’s experience in senior HSE and leadership roles across the private and public sectors. With practical military and operational leadership experience, Steve is far from the typical executive, and he draws on his diverse experience to successfully lead teams through significant challenges in highly regulated, operational and project delivery situations. A highlight of his career was his leadership of the Laing O’Rourke rail HSE divisional team. His success in this role saw him appointed to lead the NSW Government’s priority infrastructure North West Rail Link project (Sydney Metro) and, more recently, Australia’s nation-building Inland Rail program. Steve has worked on some of the largest high-profile project and operating organisations in Australia and overseas. He has led the development and implementation of all aspects of HSE policy and frameworks to deliver global best practice programs that deliver efficiencies and drive a culture of continuous improvement. Steve credits a significant portion of his corporate success to the values of teamwork and resilience, which he adopted during his years of service as a Royal Marine Commando.
