I have always thought 'Computer Science','Information Technology' and similar labels were misnomers. There is an art to it, too. I like applications that work well, that are friendly to the user, and are easily maintained. I believe in good-looking code. There is also a quality of humanity.good applications should help people. I am currently Team Lead for the Business Intelligence team, supporting report and data delivery in Epic Cogito (Reporting Work Bench) and SQL development in Oracle using Epic Clarity tables at WakeMed Health and Hospitals, a community hospital in Raleigh, NC. This is a hospital that helps its community. I like that. Prior to this role, I was an Epic Cupid and cardiovascular analyst here, building in my previous experience as an analyst supporting multiple ancillary applications and developed the non-invasive cardiology portion of Epic Cupid (Cardiant at that time) for initial roll-out, as well as supporting an in-house surgical record application and vendor patient documentation application at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Previous experience also includes state government work in North Carolina (project manager and analyst for court records application; analyst and developer for health and human services client management and financial reimbursement applications). And as part of the Space Shuttle program at Kennedy Space Center! I'm glad that what I do is interesting, challenging, and that it contributes to others. As far as being challenged while contributing, that applies to my interests, as well. What I've most enjoyed and am most proud of in that realm are: helping build a water system for an indigenous people's village in the mountains of Thailand and leading an effort to establish a college scholarship at an elementary school to improve early exposure to the concept of 'the importance of an education'. I also bicycled 200 miles in one weekend, but that was just a challenge, not really a contribution to anyone but me!
