I am a very experienced accountant, and former auditor, with excellent governance, audit relationship management and problem solving capabilities. I work with Board Excellence to deliver Board Effectiveness reviews and other Governance advisory projects. I am also a NED at two charities - Old Vicarage School and Kingston Hospital Charity.I bring 35 years of experience of working with FTSE-350 and large private groups, mostly in the Media, Property and Leisure sectors. 20 of those years were as an audit partner at KPMG in London and the South-East. I resolve challenging relationships or situations by providing clear and practical advice provided through an open and friendly style combined with a dry sense of humour.I am open to another NED role, ideally in a commercial organisation to sit alongside my current portfolio.I have particular expertise in:Governance and Risk Management: advising Audit Committees and Boards; running KPMG UK’s Audit quality review programmes;Leadership and coaching: leading Audit team of 50 professionals delivering income of £8m p.a. Strong coaching skills – most senior managers promoted to director or partner;Relationship management: strong influencing and negotiating skills; friendly and open style; building good working relationships at Board and operational level;Project management: accomplished in project planning and delivery with tight non-negotiable delivery timescales;Auditing: skilled external auditor, including leading audits for international businesses;Financial Reporting and Accounting: chartered accountant, auditing and preparing financial statements for FTSE-350 and large private groups under IFRS or UK GAAP;Financial management: P&L and Balance Sheet management; forecasting, budgeting and cash flow projections.I am friendly, resilient and an inveterate tea-drinker.
