About Steve Payne

I have been a technology aficionado for most of my life. Starting out in the Audio/Visual/Live Sound and two-way communications industries and eventually migrating to low voltage physical security/IP network systems, I have had a unique opportunity to watch the convergence of analog and digital systems first hand. I am no stranger to large technology projects having designed and implemented systems for casinos, airports, school districts and other enterprise level customers. I am also a published author, having written a monthly column for Security Sales and Integration magazine on systems/IP network convergence, as well as several feature articles and a blog on the SSI website. One of my passions is training and curriculum development, and I have been honored to have participated in developing and delivering training materials and courses for several product launches, as well as providing beginning and advanced technology courses in several fields. More recently, I have worked as a consultant for customers in the integrated systems/physical security/IP network/building automation markets. While still firmly entrenched in the network based Security industry, I spend some of my time now evaluating and working with the latest renewable and Green technologies for power generation and smart building systems. I also currently work on developing sustainability projects such as energy and alternative agriculture for Native tribal communities.
