About Steve Punter

Apart from working with everything HR & OD, I'm a trouble-shooter, a fixer. I make things work, and I make problems go away. I have 4 main areas of work, but everything I do is founded in helping people & their organisations develop, grow, change, harmonise and achieve. I'm based in Taupo NZ, but I work anywhere my clients need me.(1) The People Effect I provide a full HR function with a leaning towards HRD and performance management, plus handling redundancies, performance problems including disciplinary/termination, internal mediation and managing Personal Grievances in an advocacy role.(2) STA Training (now a division of The People Effect Ltd): I customise and facilitate (mostly management, leadership and governance) training programmes, on a wide range of topics - check them all out at These are customised and run in-house (i.e. at client premises or venue) along with some public offerings in Auckland and Taupo.(3) Speaking: I use a blend of humour, gentle provocation, common-sense, relevant story-telling and dynamism to engage audiences and hold onto them while slipping serious messages across. Yes, you can put me in the after-lunch spot or the last session of the day and they won't go to sleep!
