About Steve Rumery

Dr. Steve Rumery (aka “Rum”) is a Director with Leadership Research Institute and founder of Credible-Leader.com, and his mission is developing the credibility and impact of leaders and organizations through executive coaching, research, and consulting. Steve has experience working with Fortune 500 companies across industries, as well as high-performing and mission-driven nonprofit, education, and faith-based organizations globally. Recently, Steve launched the RESTORE Initiative which focuses on the development of the restorative leadership style in leaders who want to engage their people during times of disruption and change Steve is also the inventor of ENGAGE and the Engagement Battery, a system for increasing the purpose and meaning in people’s work. As an executive coach, Steve works with leaders and their teams to understand their objectives, the strengths each leader needs to accomplish those objectives, and through assessment, what capabilities each leader needs to develop. When assessing and developing leaders, Steve tailors his approach and recommendations to the unique needs and situation of each leader. In addition to executive coaching, Steve works with all levels of leaders in his client organizations to conduct high impact organizational research and consulting. Through rigorous and evidence-based methods, his work provides a clear and objective point-of-view on the difficult and complex issues facing his clients. Steve’s research and consulting expertise spans the employee lifecycle, from the selection and on-boarding of top talent, to the coaching and development of leaders, to the optimization of employee engagement, retention, and culture. Steve joined LRI in having previously worked as an independent consultant. Steve holds a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Connecticut. He is a member of the Society of Industrial & Organizational Psychologists (SIOP) and the International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP). When his schedule allows, Steve lectures at the graduate level on topics related to leadership and organizational effectiveness, and he takes an active role in identifying and mentoring bright talent early in their careers. Steve is also an active supporter and contributor to many non-profit and charity organizations, including The ONE Campaign and the REFORM Alliance. Steve resides in Connecticut with his wife and three children.
