About Steve Sims

I have been working within technology and IT for most of my life, and have worked for several trading banks, like RBS and Dresdner, as well as in the telecoms sector for companies like WorldCom. I am an intelligent and articulate person, who is easy to get along with and outgoing. I pick up new concepts easily and can adapt to emerging technologies with relative ease, and I am used to explaining complex issues or scenarios to less technical people. My open and outgoing approach works well with stakeholder management, I understand the need to get the stakeholders on board and maintain them by keeping them up to date and informed. I have a great deal of experience managing all aspects of a project or programme from resourcing, to budgets and timescales, as well as managing the scope and the stakeholders. In all my previous roles, I have helped to bridge the gap between technology and the business goals, to provide productive solutions – I enjoy the challenging of working within a very business lead environment, and being able to support that business with technical expertise. One of my key skills is building relationships, both within my team and with key components of the business, and I am very good at working out where people’s strengths lie, and so find it quite natural to prioritise and distribute workloads within the team and negotiate with peers outside the team. My technical expertise and my experience helps me understand what is achievable and who would be best placed to achieve it, and it also gives me a great insight into how well each member of my team is working, and allows me to judge how best to make sure we get the best from the team.
