About Steve Tran

I joined Red Hat as a Middleware Consultant in January 2013. My engagements range from migration and modernization efforts, implementing security with open source frameworks, and proof of concepts projects. I'm a force multiplier whether it's on a one-person team or as the team lead on a dozen-person team. My background heavily leans on application-development, but the nature of my work requires that I understand the entire stack, especially in a cloud-native world. Before 2013, I worked at a company called High Performance Technologies Inc, which was acquired by another company called Dynamic Research Corporation in mid 2011. It was my first job out of college, so I started as a Java Developer. I wore many hats along the way, including Tech Lead, Configuration Manager, and even Software Development Manager. I learned early on I need to be solving technical problems to be happy, so I typically steer clear of management opportunities that land on my plate. I've worked with various types of system, from typical n-tiered webapps to more modern cloud and big data systems. Some of the most exciting work I've done was building out a cloud infrastructure before the era of PaaS and Docker containers. I did drink the kool-aid after joining Red Hat, so I'm a champion of opensource-everything. I'm a committer to various opensource projects, including OpenShift (OCP) project and JBoss Data Virtualization project (Teiid).
