Steven Arrasmith, earned his Master of Arts in Music Education from Oregon Center for the Arts at Southern Oregon University. Experienced General Manager in the hospitality industry. Skilled in Revenue Management, Tourism, Training, Human Resources, Budgeting, and Team Building & Leadership. Accomplished clarinetist & bassoonist, performing with professional and armature ensembles throughout Oregon and Washington. Studied under Lori Calhoun, principal clarinetist at the Rogue Valley Symphony, and Dr. Rhett Bender, Professor of Music at Southern Oregon University. Arrasmith has performed with the Oregon East Symphony, Central Oregon Symphony, Mid-Columbia Theater, Grande Ronde Symphony Orchestra and was a founding member of the Eastern Oregon-Washington Chamber Ensemble. As a young clarinetist, he was principal for 6 years with the Youth Symphony of Southern Oregon, and performed with the Rogue Music Theater. He toured England, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and Austria as an Oregon Ambassadors of Music. Recipient of the Laurel Music Scholarship, John Philip Sousa Award and listed in the National Honors Society as well as the National Deans List. Performed with Rogue Valley Symphony Orchestra, Rogue Opera Company, SOU Wind Ensemble, SOU Clarinet Consortium, Inter-Collegiate Honor Bands; along with numerous smaller quintets and ensembles, such as the Rogue Wanders Quintet which had the honor of performing a preconcert show at the Britt Music Festivals. Arrasmith served 7 years on board of directors for the Rogue Valley Symphonic Band and acted as interim president of the board in addition to 18 years of playing with many of those years as principal clarinet. He was principal clarinetist for the Southern Oregon Concert Band and substitute clarinetist for the Rogue Valley Symphony Orchestra for 12 years. For 18+ years he performed with the Ashland City Band, giving an estimated 198 concerts during that time and was acting principal & solo clarinetist for 8 years where he performed such solo works as Carl Maria von Weber’s Clarinet Concertino op 26. He has also worked as an instructor with a private clarinet studio. Community music making has always been a passion for Arrasmith. He has played with the Inland Musician – Symphony Orchestra on clarinet and bassoon, the Walla Walla Symphony, Happy Canyon Pit Orchestra, Bassoonaromma, woodwind specialist with the Mid-Columbia Theater Company, Cascade Winds Symphonic Band and the West Winds Chamber Ensemble.
