About Steven Collins

My main job was as a Kane County Sheriff's Office - IL, Public Safety Lieutenant and Assistant to the Public Safety Commander where I had been blessed to be part of since 1994 when I started as an Auxiliary Deputy. In 1996 I transitioned to a full-time police officer/deputy sheriff where I had worked at two local Chicagoland agencies until 1998, when I returned to my hometown agency the Kane County Sheriff's Office. I recently retired in February 2022 where I took a position as a Second-in-Command (Campus Police Sergeant) at Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove - IL. Throughout my career I have held numerous positions of honor and trust for most of my career. These positions include but are not limited to Patrol Deputy, School Resource Officer,(FTO) Field Training Officer, Detective, ICAC (Internet Crimes Against Children) member, TLO (Terrorism Liaison Officer) member,(MCTF) Major Crimes Task Force Investigator,(SWAT) Special Weapons and Tactics Operator, Sergeant and Supervisor of the FTO Program’s, and Lieutenant/Assistant Public Safety Commander in the patrol and field training divisions. In my spare time, I enjoyed being a part of the IL Air National Guard 182nd Airlift Wing where I was the NCOIC of the Command Post Operations Center. My current role is the First Sergeant for the 182d Logistics Readiness Squadron where I am a senior enlisted advisor to the Commander. As the First Sergeant I serve as the commander's advisor on personnel programs, career progression, airmen’s family needs or concerns, financial matters, professional military education, recognition programs and any other additional needs required by the commander to the Airmen under her command.
