About Steven Cook

I have worked for Jahn Architecture (previously called Murphy/Jahn) since 1983, with a one year break beginning in February 2008 when I was hired by Steve Jobs to be the Senior Director of Campus Development for the new Apple Headquarters. When that project was put on hold in 2009, I returned to Jahn Architecture where I am currently a Managing Director. The following endorsement from Helmut Jahn best describes my involvement at the firm:"Since joining my firm over 30 years ago, Steve has been one of my closest collaborators and, as Principal Architect, has led many of JAHN’s most seminal and acclaimed projects. Steve’s keen design sense and deep technical knowledge of sustainable and innovative construction has significantly advanced the architecture profession.When JAHN began working in Germany in the late 1980’s, Steve collaborated in the design of our first important projects, including the Messeturm in Frankfurt and the Munich Airport Center. Soon Steve’s role expanded, and in 1993 he took over the expansion of the Cologne/Bonn Airport - an extensive 15 year project that encompassed a new terminal, parking garages, a high speed rail station, and road network. Steve led a team of architects and engineers that created an ensemble of innovative, highly technical and carefully integrated buildings that truly embodied the essence of our firm’s design philosophy Archineering. Many of the concepts and details that Steve developed on these projects deeply influenced our later work including the Bangkok and Chicago airports.With the Cologne/Bonn Airport in progress, Steve took over the Deutsche Post Headquarters project. This building has set the standard for sustainability in high rise construction, and in addition to numerous AIA awards, it is now being honored with the Ten Year Award by the CTBUH. Steve’s leadership and contributions were fundamental to the success of this project.Steve is a core senior member of my firm, and I rely on him for ensuring that our projects achieve the high aesthetic and technical qualities that I expect and which are fundamental to creating world class buildings. Steve has a passion and enthusiasm for creating great buildings, and instills this spirit in the junior members of our team, mentoring and assisting them in their professional growth."
