About Steven Erickson

I joined South Texas Project on February 4th, 2019 in the Emergency Response Division. I have 33 years of experience as a nuclear-trained worker.I've been working in nuclear power since 1983 when I enlisted in "The Canoe Club"! After 6 years in which I served as an Electrician's Mate on a Fast Attack submarine, I completed a Bachelor's Degree in Physics at North Dakota State University.My first commercial job was at Palisades Nuclear Plant in Michigan. Starting with re-writing the Generic Fundamentals training program, I instructed Licensed and Non-Licensed Operator (initial and continuing) Training. I earned a Senior Reactor Operator Certification there.I moved to Exelon Nuclear (ComEd, at the time) and continued working as an Operations instructor. I also did Fuel Handling training and did several outages as a Fuel Handling Supervisor (Pool side).After a total of 12 years of instructing operators, I moved into Emergency Preparedness as a Corporate Drill & Exercise Coordinator. I maintained and implemented the Fleet-Wide D&E Procedures in addition to my drill development, conduct and evaluation duties. I was assigned to the NEI 06-04 "Hostile Action Based Exercise" industry task force.In 2008, I left Exelon to do consulting work for CMCG, LLC. I directed, developed and conducted over 16 HABE events throughout the industry, more than any other EP specialist (so far.). Additionally, I performed over a dozen NEI 10-05 "ERO Staffing Studies" and a large number of NEI 12-01 "ELAP Staffing Studies". In between all those, I did numerous assessments and staff augmentation assignments.On 3/14/16, I accepted a position at DC Cook Nuclear Plant as a Principle EP Coordinator.On 7/27/17, I went to work in the UAE at the Barakah Nuclear Plant developing EP drills and exercises and helping train the staff in EP fundamentals.
