About Steven Fernandez

Steven Fernandez is the senior managing partner at Fernandez & Karney, APLC. Mr. Fernandez specializes in financial divorce, with an emphasis in high-asset litigation involving family businesses, real estate, financial investments, intellectual property, child support, and spousal support. Mr. Fernandez earned his Juris Doctorate degree from U.C.L.A. Law School in 1987. Prior to his legal education, Mr. Fernandez attended University of California at Santa Barbara where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in English in 1984. Mr. Fernandez was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1989, and he has been practicing family law for over 25 years. In 2012, the California Board of Legal Specialization for the State Bar of California certified Mr. Fernandez as a Family Law Legal Specialist. In 2015, Mr. Fernandez successfully completed the prestigious Traditional Trial Advocacy Program presented by the Los Angeles County Bar Association. Mr. Fernandez has served as a Judge Pro Tem and volunteer pro bono Family Law Mediator for the Los Angeles County Superior Court and has also guest lectured on family law discovery at California State University, Northridge. A Southern California native, Mr. Fernandez grew up in Malibu, California and has been part of the West Side community since the 1970’s. He is very active in the legal community, and he is a current member of many organizations including the Westside Professional Group, the Santa Monica Bar Association, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, the Association of Certified Family Law Specialists, and the Family Law Section of the State Bar of California. Mr. Fernandez is an avid Los Angeles sports fan, and he enjoys long distance running in his free time.
