About Steven Holmes

I have extensive experience with Oracle development and database administration, with APEX, and with shell scripting but my greatest strengths as an IT professional come down to two main areas of problem solving in software development:1. I have a profound degree of agility and adaptability to new skills. Many times throughout my career I have become the designated hitter any time there was new skill or software needing someone to quicklybecome an expert, because what would take me not terribly long to get a good grasp of would take another IT professional a much longer time. So, while Oracle development, APEX, PL/SQL are skills that I have most commonly used they are far from the only things that I can do, and it would not take me long to get up to speed on almost anything necessary for the project I am on. I am able to conduct high level communication on both very technical and very user friendly levels to be able to facilitate a good team taking a creative vision and making it a reality. Many supervisors have commented on my unique ability in this regard to function almost as a translator and mediator between the extremely technical side of things and the more basic, user focused group. This allows me to be able to help flesh out an idea in development and help make whatever it is that my team is working on better, less prone to error, and easily accessible to the person who needs to be able to use the program. I enjoy proactively spotting the blind spots in creative processes early in the development cycle in a way that prevents difficulties at later stages. There has also been a significant degree of management skills that I have utilized in these processes and I found that I enjoyed the interpersonal teamwork needed to make any project a success for all parties involved.
