About Steven Matiaco

With nearly 10 years of service as a code official and over seven years of dedicated service as a Building Official at the City of Ashland, OR, my expertise in team management, plan review and fire safety has been instrumental in maintaining and enhancing urban safety standards. Skilled in the International Code Council (ICC) regulations, my role involves ensuring structures meet rigorous safety codes, supporting our team's commitment to public safety. My work is deeply rooted in a comprehensive understanding of building and fire codes, a competency that safeguards our community. I also take great satisfaction in serving on local and state boards that promote building safety. I am the current past president of our Southern Oregon ICC Chapter, a current Director on the Oregon State Plumbing Board, and the current Secretary/Treasurer for the Oregon Building Officials Association. My previous work/life experience as a designer, general contractor, energy specialist, energy trust trade alley, and student in business administration has helped to provide the balanced skills needed to operate successfully as a code official. I thoroughly enjoy the work I do, and feel blessed to have had the opportunity that this industry has provided me.
