About Steven McDyer

With a long career in Coast Guard Aviation and a formal education that supports quality and continuous process improvement work, I bring a depth of knowledge and experience that is suited to the Aerospace and Defense industry. Aircraft maintenance, training and education, and flight crew duties are some of the areas in which I have a great deal of aviation experience, while working as a Quality Engineer on a $26M defense program bolstered my quality related expertise. Quality Engineer duties included sole responsibility for all aspects of quality for the program, chairing Material Review Boards, directly addressing customer concerns, carrying out root cause analysis, conducting First Article Inspections and performing Pre and Post-Production Verifications. As a Data Analyst I worked across multiple domains to help integrate Coast Guard logistics processes into a single Oracle E-Business suite while also helping to develop the new End-to-End business process framework. Work entailed facilitating and leading workshops, coordinating efforts with our development team, and providing organizational-level process overview documents. Most recently I have the opportunity to apply my formal education as a Continuous Process Improvement expert, providing effective and lasting solutions for a wide range of production and engineering activities. In addition to conducting lean assessments and facilitating process improvements, I have had formal Internal Auditor training for AS9110, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. My professional certifications include an FAA Airframe and Powerplant certificate and an FAA Flight Engineer certificate as well as a Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt. Unrelated to any of my experiences detailed here, I am also a formally trained Chef, Certified Wine Professional and a Certified Sommelier, with experience in California’s wine industry.
