Currently working in production as a Technologist in Pfizer, Ringaskiddy, which involves decision-making around the set-up and operation of equipment for New Products that are run on plant. The role facilitates the opportunity to carry out a leading role as part of a process team involved in the initiation of new commercial products for validation on scale. Previously, I was a Chemist on site also involved in the technical transfer of New Products to the site. I obtained my Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from UCD Dublin under the supervision of Prof. Pat Guiry after being awarded a 1st Class Honours Degree, also at UCD. In particular my Ph.D was in the area of Asymmetric Catalysis, synthesising and applying novel Tridentate Bis-oxazoline Ligands in various asymmetric transformations such as the Nozaki-Hiyama-Kishi reaction using various bromoallenes and aldehydes and the Friedel-Crafts reaction with trans-beta-nitrostyrene and either indole or 2-methoxyfuran.
