Architect: BA (Hons) Dip Arch RIBA MAPM Architect and Director at Shepheard Epstein Hunter people function form 1982-2022, Chair 2011-2021 Steven‘s experience includes projects for science, research and higher education buildings, masterplanning, listed buildings, schools, libraries and housing in both sectors. He led SEH's framework teams for schools, universities and Parliament. Projects include masterplans for the University of Oxford (Osney Mead, Begbroke, Radclilffe Observatory Quarter, Science Area and Keble Road Triangle) and Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust (Warneford Hospital); masterplans and buildings for the University of Leicester (Space Park Leicester, Percy Gee Students Union 2010 and East Wing 2017, Brookfield Business School 2017, Council Chamber and others); schools for Newham, Hackney, Lambeth, Girls Day School Trust and United Learning; Clapton; libraries for UEA, University of Liverpool, Hackney and Frieinds of Kensal Rise; housing for Camden (framework refurbishments), for developers (Hull and London) and mixed use heath and housing in Hackney (see Steven joined SEH in 1982, was a Director from 1988 to 2022 and served as Chair from 2011 to 2021. He is APM-qualified as a project manager, has been a CABE enabler and wrote the CABE guide to transforming school buildings, and is now a Design Council Expert Associate. Other publications include articles on sustainable housing, Passivhaus, libraries, business schools, halls of residence, schools and listed buildings and on play and sport for children. He is currently Chair of the RIBA Part professional examining panel at the University of Cambridge (on panel since 2002, Chair since 2012) and has also examined at the Bartlett and the University of Nottingham. He is a Director and Trustee of Lambeth Accord / We are 336, a charity providing accessible and affordable office space for organisations supporting disability, older people’s and carers’ charities.
