About Steven Puryear

With over 18 years of dedicated service in law enforcement, I bring a wealth of experience in tactical operations, investigations, and leadership. My career has included assignments as Assistant Team Leader on a plain-clothed tactical team, weapons instructor, less-lethal and rifle instructor, armorer, range master, field training officer, and member of multiple warrant service teams. Currently, I serve as an Investigations Sergeant within the Support Division, where I oversee detectives, a victim advocate, and a crime analyst. I also lead our department’s Special Response Team (SRT), managing all aspects of tactical operations, readiness, and training. I am committed to officer development and the delivery of high-quality service through community-oriented policing strategies. In addition, I ensure department compliance with CA POST mandates and training requirements. My technical skills include proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, along with extensive experience in auditing and equipment tracking to maintain operational efficiency. Throughout my career, I have been honored with two Medals of Valor, two Meritorious Service Awards, and numerous commendations. I believe in a hands-on leadership approach that fosters growth, promotes accountability, and encourages independent decision-making.
