About Steven Ramos

From 2014 to 2018, I served as a Machine Gunner and Vehicle Commander in the 2nd Marine Division, 8th Marine Regiment, 1st Battalion, Weapons Company. I deployed overseas twice (Romania, Norway)(Japan, and South Korea). I have an Associate Degree in History from American River College. I have a Bachelor's Degree in History from CSU Sacramento. I have earned a Single Subject Teaching Credential in Social Science in California from CSU Sacramento. I am beginning my Masters Degree in History at CSUS. I love to travel and have been to over 12 Countries and 20 States, including the U.S. territory of the USVI, St. Thomas. I spent a year learning how to apply my prior instructional experience, educational skills, and leadership qualities to teaching Social Sciences to the next generation, including diverse students from various backgrounds. I am currently in a role where I teach what I am passionate about: ancient civilizations up to our modern world. My goal is to teach history in exciting ways. Utilizing ever-changing online resources, I want to cultivate historical reading skills such as sourcing, contextualizing, corroboration, and close reading. These are some of the skills that will be needed for young adults transitioning into professionals and entering our modern world.
