About Steven Ronca

For my current role at M&T Bank as the Quantitative Team Lead in Treasury Operations, I am tasked with understanding numerous Treasury processes, both from a front office viewpoint as well as operational. I am viewed as the expert for these tasks and often create automated procedures through use of Python, SQL, Microsoft VBA, among others. My position requires a financial mathematical background in addition to data science; both are used in tandem to understand and elevate the bank's processes. Working at Citi for 5 years in the risk management sector taught me how to analyze the inherent risks within the broader financial market as well as the mutual fund industry while looking at potential risks on a counter party, market, and internal level. Citi had also given me the opportunity to learn management and leadership skills by allowing me to manage my own portfolio of mutual fund clients and working at all levels within the bank. By pursuing my masters in finance with a focus in quantitative analysis, I was able to take my financial experience one step further and combine my love of math with finance. Throughout the program, I developed statistical quantitative skills while deepening my prior understanding of finance through various projects and class lessons, skills I am now directly applying to my current role. I am always moving forward and growing my quantitative skills by taking courses both through work and in my spare time. My career goals center around constantly learning new skills and information, no matter the role.
