About Steven Snyder

I started work as a network admin in the K-12 field in late at a small school district in Texas. I immediately set to to modernize this organization from a workgroup networked together with a series of hubs to a Windows domain with switching in place. In 2014 I moved to California and took a role at a K-12, working my way back into the network administrator position, being thrust into the lead position when the two most senior network administrators left within a few months of each other in 2021. I spend most of my time going between Microsoft's Active Directory, Microsoft Intune, and Google Workspace to maintain the two environments. I have experience with configuring, monitoring, and maintaining both Cisco and Palo Alto firewalls. Due to the nature of the K-12 environment I become proficient in several internet filters from vendors such as Lightspeed, Security, Content Keeper, and Linewize. As we all known email spam is an ever-present annoyance and so also had to work with spam filters from Lightspeed and Barracuda. As the years have gone on I have moved more and more into management of the site techs who work at the various school sites. Keeping the organization aligned and managing projects with those technicians is critical to the smooth functioning of the district. While I still do quite a bit of technical work with the district, I do find a great deal of satisfaction leading my team, and having meetings with various departments who need special projects and being a liaison to vendors for technical projects.
