About Steven Tedesco

I am a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. I have started my banking career in 1995 with Mid-Med Bank plc and was Deputy Chief Investment Officer - 2005) and Chief Investment Officer (2005 - 2007) at HSBC Fund Management (Malta) Ltd as well as Director, Deputy Head and Chief Investment Officer (2007-2009) at HSBC Global Asset Management (Malta) Ltd, before joining Nemea Bank plc as Chief Investment Officer (Head of Treasury and Head of Asset Management). During my tenure at HSBC Global Asset Management Malta Ltd I managed a number of open-ended funds, which funds ranged across all asset classes, both local and international, including bonds, equities, money market and property. I have throughout my career managed assets which exceeded the EUR1 billion mark. I also engineered and designed various other capital protected funds in Maltese Lira, Euro and Sterling and eventually introduced in Malta the concept of wrapping capital protected structures round Medium Term Notes. In 2008 I engineered the first ever local, retail, Hedge Fund linked, full capital protected, structure sold in Malta. At Nemea Bank, a new dynamic start up bank, I was entrusted to set up the bank's Treasury division and Asset Management business. I left Nemea Bank in 2011 to focus on my independent directorships, investment committee roles and consultancy services (independent valuation of assets in particular derivatives, and treasury, portfolio, fund and asset management consultancy services) to the Maltese financial services sector in general. Amongst others, I am the Chairman of the largest retail AIF in Malta, the HSBC Malta Funds SICAV plc, and a Director of and the Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Malta Stock Exchange. Finally, I also lecture and deliver talks on various capital markets linked topics and overall portfolio management.
