About Steven Tietsworth

I work primarily in intellectual property (IP) law, focusing on patent and trademark prosecution, counseling, and litigation. I have written and prosecuted hundreds of patent applications in the areas of electronics, software, electromagnetics, medical devices, genomics, and various mechanical and optical devices and systems, and have filed and prosecuted trademark application for high tech and biotech companies in San Diego and the Silicon Valley area, as well as for other companies throughout California. I also have experience in copyright and trade secret law, and joined two former client companies in 2013 as their general counsel, handling all legal matters including IP, business and contract matters, employment and managing outside counsel in business and litigation matters. In addition I work with the law firm I founded with my friend and former Cooley colleague Kyle Pendergrass, PT Law Group handling primarily intellectual property matters. As an inventor I hold 6 US patents, and have worked in a variety of technology design, development, testing, and management positions in small and large companies, the US and California state governments, and several educational institutions including the University of California and University of San Diego. Specialties: My technical expertise and areas of practice include patent prosecution, patent litigation, trademark prosecution, and intellectual property counseling related to patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secret issues and strategy.
