About Steven Tyrrell

I have been in the coating industry for 13 years with 15 years of experience in production QC and R&D. I started in the laboratory working with formulation chemist evaluating new coating systems independently with wet chemistry testing as well as application and process testing. I also worked with Technical Service Reps on trials of new materials at customers as a laboratory liaison, often working with the customers QC laboratory personal gathering lab results and information from the line (bake temps, speeds, coating observations etc.) I moved to the Technical Service Team and became a Technical Customer Service Response Rep in 2014. On the TCRT team, I have continued to work with customer on new product application trials as well as customer complaints and coating issues. I also worked internally with evaluations and investigations on production issues, as well as raw material replacements on finished goods. In 2016 I was part of the team was recognized with PPG's Gold award for Most Significant Contribution to the Business I have also become a champion on writing SOPs for test methods, as well as equipment within the building. I have become the team lead on EH & S processes and programs within the building, being named Safety Associate of the Year 2 times. Currently I am the team champion on Engagement at PPG. I spent many years in the Food and Beverage Industry before and during my career, where I eventually performed both front of house and back of house duties in the restaurant business. My learnings on how to deal with fast pace situations as well as difficult customer issues have helped me advance in my current position.
