About Steven Vensel

Began my retail career at Target when I was 17 as a cashier and Electronics department team member. Worked my way up to signing and pricing auditor, and then to department manager of Entertainment. Ended my time with the retailer as the department manager of Jewelry/Cosmetics, having worked at the store for 10 years. In my time there, I had cut theft by nearly 90% in the first month in both departments I managed, and improved overall inventory control. Four years later I began work at the Kroger-owned King Soopers in Denver, CO, as an overnight foreman, but quickly traded that position for the Price Accuracy Manager. The overall accuracy of our numbers improved from a 75% to a 93% within the first month, and never dropped below a 92% during the year and a half I was in the position. We moved to Spokane, WA, and I transferred to the Fred Meyer arm of Kroger, having to drop down to a part-time clerk position. Two months later, however, I became the department manager of Frozen Foods, improving inventory control, in stocks, and overall organization during my time there. I moved into my current position of Assistant Grocery Manager, overseeing all night time and closing procedures of over a dozen employees across 9 different departments, and occasionally assuming the duties of the Store Director as needed. I am in charge of my own nightly tasks of in stocks, ad item placement and display building, freight receiving, sales floor and stock room organization and cleaning, and general supervisor and conflict resolution. I have spent a lot of time using only some of my skills, mainly organizational, prioritization, and interpersonal relations. Other skills I have that I look forward to one day using include resource management efficiency, system analysis, and complex problem solving.
